Integrator shows camera-assisted conveyor tracking solution

In this application video, integrator Artur Wiebe shows how a Delta robot from igus® with camera-supported conveyor tracking solution, conveys small containers, often found in the cosmetics industry, from the conveyor belt into a box. The containers are picked from the conveyor belt by an igus Delta robot mounted in a robotic cell after being programmed and detected by the camera in a specific cycle and deposited again in a specified place, in this case the box. With a positioning accuracy of +- 0.5 mm and up to 60 picks per minute, the Delta robot with 3 axes is ideal for implementing pick and place tasks in your production in the best possible way.

The aim of this application was to load the packaging unit with the chocolates from the assembly line. The special shape and irregular position on the conveyor belt presented a challenge. This application example from the 3D vision manufacturer Mech Mind demonstrates how intelligent camera systems can be implemented in handling processes in manufacturing.

In the blue box, the gear shafts lie unsorted on top of each other. In order for the robot to pick them up correctly each time, the camera must recognize the position and pass this information on to the robot. The UR3e then places the parts in a fixture for inspection. If the quality check is successful, the parts are sorted.
